Before the Industrial Revolution,
The air was lighter,
And sickness was a rare visitor.
Greed slept quietly then, While needs were small, And hearts were fuller.
Food carried the truth of the soil,
Pure in taste,
Untouched by haste or profit.
Then came the age of machines—
Every flavor altered,
Every value measured in gain.
Chemicals were taught to kill Insects, parasites, life unseen.
Yet those same poisons
Traveled silently From field to plate.
What we created to destroy others
Returned to consume us.
And in that cycle of control,
Diseases were born—
Not from nature,
But from our distance from it.
